DBS Management Associate Programme 2009
  • Overview

Deadline:10 October 2008

Overview

The DBS Management Associate Programme (MAP) is a leadership training programme which currently spans 18 months. If you are self-driven, proactive and committed to excellence, MAP offers you the chance to be part of Asia's leading bank and shape the future of banking in Asia. From day one, you will be in a performance driven environment that provides growth, rewards and continuous learning. We believe that to attract and retain the very best, we must invest in people. Given the foundation of an overview of the Bank, the strength of the networking within your regional cohort, interactions with Senior Management and the challenges offered during your extensive exposure within your career track, you will find MAP a most enriching experience.

Career Tracks and Development Plans

Before commencing MAP, we will work together with you to identify an individual career track covering the following key business and support areas:

As a Management Associate (MA), you will receive comprehensive training and development covering three key areas: Experience, Education and Relationship.

Experience-based Development

At the point of recruitment, you will be matched to a broad career track and home department, on which your Individual Development Plan will be centered. Typically, on-the-job training may include experiential learning across customer facing and product management/operations roles.

Education-based Development

All MAs will attend an 18-month programme that combines two months of campus training and 16 months of experiential learning. If you are based in Singapore and Hong Kong, you will commence the programme with a two-month campus training in Singapore, which begins in July each year. If you're an MA in China, your two-month campus training will take place across Singapore and China.

Campus Training Programme
One of the key features of DBS MAP is its rigorous and structured training programme. The curriculum, designed to equip you with the necessary financial and professional skills, includes four key areas:

  • Financial Skills and Concepts
  • Business and Personal Effectiveness Modules
  • Corporate Orientation
  • Field Trips and Talks

Continuous Learning
Ample opportunities will be available for you to enhance your knowledge and skills within your individual career track. Through our Regional Training and Development Team, we help you succeed and excel in DBS by providing innovative learning solutions targeted to your specific needs. You could also keep abreast of changes in the banking industry and enhance your performance on your job by participating in the DBS Group Education Sponsorship Programme.

Relationship-based Development

Relationship-based development focuses on sharpening the interpersonal relationship skills of and providing career guidance to MAs. This is conducted through a range of programmes that includes a buddy scheme, programme management and mentoring led by DBS Group Human Resources and appraising managers, networking opportunities with Senior Management, as well as the establishment of a MAP network during campus training and other activities.

Buddy Scheme
To help you assimilate into the work culture, you'll be assigned a buddy who will share his or her previous experiences, connect you with other seniors, and facilitate sharing of knowledge and experience within DBS.

MAP Management
You will have a Programme Manager dedicated to providing you with career guidance and overall support and facilitating the end-to-end process of MAP. Working with colleagues in the Business HR teams of Group Human Resources, the Manager will also track and coordinate with Business Units on your performance and aspirations.

Mentor Scheme
On completion of the programme, a manager will be assigned as Mentor to give continual support and guidance to MA graduates for on-going development.

Career Development

As an MA, you will join DBS in the management ranks at the Analyst level.  Progression from Analyst to the next level, Associate, will typically take place after the completion of the 18-month MAP. A primary criterion for career progression is MAs must have performed in the delivery of all objectives set, taken on a larger job role and shown potential through the demonstration of required competencies of the next higher level. You can expect enhanced opportunities for cross-functional and regional exposure to be offered to you. With such experience and exposure, your career development in DBS may be fast-tracked.
